Where to Get the Best Fondue in Chicago

Must read

It’s getting cold quickly, and you know what always hits the spot for me during cold weather? A big pot of hot food. In the past few years, I’d always go grab the best soup in Chicago or indulge in a friendly hot pot night. But this year, allow me to share my newly-discovered gems — the best melting pot restaurants in Chicago!

Melting pot, also known (actually, officially known) as fondues, are basically Western hot pots. Traditionally, your pot is either cheese-based or chocolate-based, although there are other variations nowadays. You then dip meat, vegetables, or even fruit and sweets into the pot to coat them with whatever is in there. Then, voila, enjoy!

Geja Cafe

340 W Armitage Ave, Chicago, IL 60614

Geja is the second-to-none fondue restaurant in Chicago — hands down, no questions asked. Whether you’re looking for a romantic dating experience or a unique ice braking party in the office, nothing boosts the mood than trying to grab that last piece of marshmallow so you can dip it in flaming chocolate. From space to menu, Geja is the absolute definition of fine and delightful experience.

Fondue Stube

2717 W Peterson Ave, Chicago, IL 60659

Fondue Stube is a casual mainstay serving a variety of fondue options in a low-lit, homey atmosphere. For a place that’s been around for quite a while, it’s surprising how rarely people know about it. However, Fondue Stube is everything a Chicago hidden gem could be: curated menu, quiet atmosphere, friendly service, and top-notch ingredients. If you’re looking for a timeless classic, you’ve found Fondue Stube.

Michael Jordan’s Steak House Chicago

505 N Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60611

For those down for something stronger in flavor and scent, Michael Jordan’s has a brilliant blue cheese fondue. If you pair it with their house garlic bread, just be careful not to overeat and run out of room for the main course. But honestly. Their bread + fondue + bacon is a divine combination if you just want an appetizer-focused dinner.

Dusek’s Tavern

1227 W. 18th St. Chicago, IL 60608

Dusek’s Black Truffle and Foie Gras Fondue is a must-try if you’re looking for the best fondue in Chicago. Known for its imaginative pairings of high-end pub grub and specialty beers, Chicagoans who frequent Thalia Hall are probably also regulars at Dusek’s. The black truffle fondue comes with bread, but you can honestly dip whatever ingredients from the rest of your dinner in there — because it tastes so good! Plus, they have an extensive wine list to pair with your food and mood.

The Melting Pot

255 W Golf Rd, Schaumburg, IL 60195

There’s nothing wrong with going to a chain restaurant if you know it’s good. While we put The Melting Pot at the bottom of our list, we personally have no issue with going there for a quick fondue fix. Sadly, the Chicago location has permanently closed, so now the only location we have is all the way out in Schaumberg. However, it’s a good stop if you’re in the area already and need something to kick the chilliness out of your body!
