Got the urge to reorganize your closet? Before you toss out those old sweaters and accessories, consider selling them! Not only is resale good for the environment, but you could also make a pretty penny on some of your most beloved items. Check out these shops in Chicago that’ll give you real cash for used clothes.

The RealReal

940 N Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60611

The RealReal is the real deal for selling luxury merchandise. Most products sell within 30 days and you can earn up to 85% of the sale price. From Gucci shoes to Louis Vuitton purses, there’s an endless amount of goods you can sell with them.

Buffalo Exchange

1478 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60622

This hip chain buys, sells, and trades fashionable vintage and used clothing for both men and women. You can set up a selling appointment online here. Few tips: make sure your clothes are freshly washed, don’t bring more than 50 items, and (of course) make sure you arrive on time.

Plato’s Closet

4614 N Harlem Ave, Harwood Heights, IL 60706

Calling all college kids! Stop by this retailer to sell your trendy teen and young adult clothing. All you need to do is stop by with your clothing and an employee will check it out while you browse the store. From there, you could get paid cash on the spot. Popular brands include Forever 21, Abercrombie, Uggs, and Urban Outfitters.

Crossroads Trading Co.

2711 N Clark St., Chicago, IL 60614

The folks at Crossroads buy women and men’s trendy clothing and accessories that are in excellent condition. They look for specific styles and trends depending on the season. Right now, you could sell your Y2K gear, pleated skirts, or moto jacket for on-the-spot cash. You can expect to receive 30% of what Crossroads will price item for resale.

Knee Deep Vintage

1219 W 18th St, Chicago, IL 60608

This funky Pilsen store wants your used clothing! If you have t-shirts from the 90’s or denim from the 60’s, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to cash in. Call the store at (312) 850-2510 to make sure a buyer is working (usually Saturdays and Sundays) before bringing your stuff in.

Ragstock

812 W Belmont Ave, Chicago, IL 60657

Heads up: if you want to sell your clothes to Ragstock, you have to do online (they don’t accept items at retail locations). Head to their website here and fill out the form with a photo of your clothes and that’s it! They’ll follow up if interested.
